Aloha Gang....well I am getting ready to kick back and down a few with the boyz and watch this Monday night game...I hope you all are as well...Tonight we start the week off on another positive note...ROCK-N-ROLL EM BABY!
**TOP RATED PLAY ON:
Green Bay +3.5 (WINNER 24-14)
-Carolina is a run first Offense and Stephen Davis had a career high 1,444 rushing yards last season behind that SB O-Line...But this year, that O-Line from last year only has its Center Mitchell and left tackle Gross, as well as, FB Hoover back to block for him...I dont expect things to be as successful this year with this different O-Line unit in the trenches..
The Packers was ranked #3 in run Def in the NFC last year...and this year, they do return its three top run stoppers on the D-Line, along with all 3 LBs...which should do well again this year...The only weakness for the Pac that I see, at the moment, will be in their secondary as Mike McKenzie is still out(contract)...Still, his replacement is veterans and Carolina's passing game isnt the strength or first priority attack of their Offense...If GB's defense can hold Davis in check and force Carolina into 2nd or 3rd down and long, they will be able to more desicively know when to send in personal to further support the pass defense or utilize blitzing schemes to disrupt QB Delhomme, which I think they will do...
I like QB Farve and his veterans at WRs and TEs to be able to exploit Carolina's Defensive weakness this year, which will be in the secondary...Carolina had some major personal changes from last years SB team in the secondary and not only on the O-Line...Tonight they will start a rookie at CB in Chris Gamble and a backup in Branch at free safety, and I fully expect Farve to totally test this young corner all night long, just like he did to the Eagles rookie corner in the NFC playoff game last year with a lot of success...
Tonight, I see the GB Offense with Farve and Ahman having a big night behind one of the best O-Lines in the league...Farve will have his multitude of passing targets on hand tonight, something that wasnt available to him early on last season, and Ahman's threat of breaking a long one will provide a lot of play action pass opportunities for the Pac to attack...Lastly, I feel that Carolina's newly formed O-Line will not be as effective in this early season game vs the GB tough run stopping unit who have been together much longer and which is the strength of this Pac defense...Bottom line in football is usually, whomever controls the line of scrimmage wins...Well I think GB has more of the advantages over Carolina in the trenches tonight and that should equal a solid Packer win in the end...Go Packers!
-Good luck everyone and LETS GO GET EM BABY!....ALOHA CC.
